Mi Wangzhong (1570-1628), his courtesy name is“Zhongzhao”and his art name“Youshi“. He lived in Guanzhong (Today’s Shanxi). but was born in Anhua, and later moved to Shuntian. A descent of Mi Fu, he was one of the scholars who passed the imperial examination during Wanli’s Reign in Ming dynasty, and had the position of the Provincial Judge in Jiangxi. He was good at painting landscape and flowers and was very fascinated with stones. He followed Mi Fu in running scripts and enjoyed a reputation of “South Dong and North Mi”together with Dong Qichang. He wrote the book “A Research on Seal and Official Script”.
