Ancient Music Playing
Ever since it was founded , the ancient orchestra of Hubei museum has been invited to Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, the United States, Germany, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and other many countries and regions. It has cooperated with Japan&g;s NHK National Television Station in producing music programs and has performed on such occasions as the 35th anniversary of the founding of China and the celebration of the unification of Hong Kong in 1997. It has collaborated with Asian Youth symphony orchestra, the Boston symphony orchestra, the Scottish symphony orchestra, the New York Philharmonic orchestra and the national orchestra of Taiwan etc. and has been well-received.
Of the 125 musical instruments which were unearthed from the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng State, the most striking one is the set of chime bells. It is the greatest achievement of the China’s music culture in the pre-Qin period, and represents the peak of bronze casting technology in the pre-Qin period. It was hailed by experts both home and abroad as the encyclopedia reflecting the scientific development level of the Pre-Qin period . The full set is composed of 65 pieces and is so far the best preserved and the largest chime bell set. It has a range of five and a half octaves and therefore can modulate the scale. An amazing thing about the bell is that each can produce two different tones, one is by striking the middle and the other is by striking the side. The lower bells are deep, vigorous in their tones. The copied chime bells produce mellow and crisp sounds, and the performance of them is grand and magnificent！

Visitors who need wheelchairs or strollers can rent them at the reception desk with a returnable deposit of ￥200 and valid ID document.
4. Umbrella depository
All umbrellas can be kept on the umbrella stand (free).
5. Audiovisual room
Video about the exhibits and the excavation of cultural relics are available for all visitors.
6. Barrier-free access and elevator
Barrier-free accesses are available for baby strollers and wheel chairs to leave the comprehensive exhibition halls.
7. Free Materials
Free introduction brochures of the exhibits are available for visitors at the entrance of each exhibition hall.
A general introduction to the whole museum is provided at the back of the reception desk.
Tips for Visitors
1. Some of the museum services are charged according to the relevant regulations of the Provincial Price-control Administration. Services charged include temporary exhibitions of the external cultural relics, chime bell performances, interpretation of the exhibits, audio Tours renting, big luggage depository and vehicle parking.
2. Large items of visitors’ personal belongings need to be deposited at the Large Item Storage at the gate of museum and small items are free to be deposited in each exhibition hall.
3. Those who are not properly dressed, mentally ill, or drunk and those who carry inflammable, explosive or dangerous items or pets are not allowed to enter.
4. Preschoolers, pupils should be accompanied by their guardian. The elderly or the disabled should have a companion with them to the visit.
5. Please take good care of public facilities, plants and trees. There is full compensation for any damage.
6. In order to keep the museum clean and tidy, please do not spit or litter.
7. Please do not take photographs with flashlight in the exhibition hall, nor can visitors drink, eat, smoke, or make any noise in the hall. Please don&g;t do anything that has nothing to do with the visit in the exhibition hall.
8. Except for vehicles of Level-1 or Level-2 national security or those of internal working, other vehicles are not allowed to enter the exhibition areas. Please park the vehicles in the museum parking lot.
