Entrance & Exit
Individual visitors using public transport should enter and exit via the North Gate.
Visitors arriving by taxi or ride-hailing services, as well as group visitors, should enter and exit via the South Gate.
Visitors arriving by private vehicle should enter through the Southwest Gate.
Notes: The Southwest Gate serves as the entrance for tour buses and private vehicles. Individual visitors may enter and exit through the North Gate or South Gate. Group visitors, private vehicles, and tour buses are requested to enter via the South Gate for drop-off.
Visitor Reservation Guidelines (Individual Visitors)
1. To enhance visitor experience, our museum strictly implements a "capacity control, reservation, and staggered entry" policy.During public holidays, ticket availability may be adjusted in real time in response to visitor demand.Visitors are kindly requested to proceed with reservations in compliance with relevant government and site regulations.
2. All visitors are required to make real-name reservations through the official WeChat account or official website of the Hubei Provincial Museum. To ensure scientifically managed visitor flow and safe and a safe, orderly experience, visitors must enter the museum strictly within their reserved time slot. Reservations can be made up to 5 days in advance.
3. Tickets for the latest available reservation date are released daily at 17:18.
4. Individual visitors may make real-name reservations only via the official WeChat account of the Hubei Provincial Museum. Please note that no other websites or third-party platforms are authorized to offer ticket reservation services for museum entry.
5. Same-day tickets can be reserved before 16:00 on the day of the visit, subject to availability.
6. Each open day offers four timed entry slots. Upon successful reservation, visitors are required to enter the museum strictly according to the booked date and time slot. Visitors who arrive late may be admitted during the subsequent time slot.
7. Reserved tickets are valid only for the designated time slot and will be void if not used within that period. Once a reservation is confirmed, tickets are non-modifiable but may be refunded.
8. Once confirmed, reservations cannot be modified, but refunds are allowed.
9. Individual visitors must provide valid ID to make reservations, with a maximum of 5 tickets per order. Any reservations made with the same WeChat ID, mobile number, or account will be considered as belonging to the same individual.
10. On any given day, each user account and each mobile number may reserve up to 5 tickets for the same event. Additionally, each order is limited to a maximum of 5 tickets.
11. Each valid ID is limited to one order and one ticket per day. Each ID number can only be used for one reservation per visiting date.
12. Children aged 14 and under must make a real-name reservation. They must be accompanied by an adult and their ticket must be associated with the adult's reservation. Children are not allowed to book tickets independently and must enter the museum with the associated adult.
13. Children are required to make a reservation. For children without an ID card, parents must enter the child's ID number during the booking process. Upon arrival, parents must scan their own ID card and present the order details to the staff. After verification, the child may enter with the parent. Each adult is limited to accompanying a maximum of 2 children.
14. Please present the original ID document used during reservation for verification at your designated entry time slot. Each ticket permits a single entry per day.Failure to check in within the reserved time slot will be recorded as one no-show. Visitors who accumulate three no-shows will be placed on the reservation restricted list and suspended from making reservations for six months.
15. After a reservation is confirmed, failure to enter the museum within the reserved time will be recorded as a no-show. Accumulating 3 no-shows will result in the visitor being added to the "Reservation Violation List", and their booking privileges will be suspended for 6 months. No-show records are not reset on a calendar year basis and will only be cleared after the 6-month restriction period has ended. We kindly request visitors to plan their trips carefully, avoid making hasty reservations, and book tickets prudently. Let us uphold the spirit of the contract, value personal integrity, and avoid wasting public resources.
16. Real-name reservation is required for visiting our museum.
17. All visitors, with the exception of active military personnel, firefighters, persons with disabilities, and seniors aged 65 and above, are required to book tickets online. Entry is only permitted with the original ID document used during the reservation, such as an ID card, passport, or Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Residents.
18. Accepted ID documents include: Mainland Resident Identity Card (2nd Generation), 3rd Generation Social Security Card, Passport, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Residents, Residence Permit for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Residents, and Permanent Residence ID Card for Foreigners.
19. Active military personnel, firefighters, persons with disabilities, and seniors aged 65 and above are exempt from advance reservations. Upon arrival, they may present their original ID cards at the entrance, where our staff will arrange priority access through the green channel.Veterans are currently not eligible for reservation-free entry, and active military personnel are required to book tickets in advance.Persons with disabilities and visitors aged 65 and above may be accompanied by one companion, who is also exempt from reservation.
20. If you are unable to book tickets online due to rare characters in your name, please proceed to the South Gate. After verification by our staff, on-site registration for entry can be arranged. Please note that all accompanying visitors must book their tickets online in advance.
21. Military groups and students of military academies are exempt from advance reservations. On the day of the visit, visitors must be in formal military uniform and present an official letter of introduction or official document bearing the official seal of the unit. The document must specify the number of visitors; individual names and ID numbers are not required.After the number of visitors has been verified by security staff, military groups should enter via the Group Entrance at the South Gate, while military academy students should enter via the East Gate.
22. Hubei Provincial Museum has not authorized any third-party organizations or individuals to act as agents for tickets services.The museum will take measures such as account suspension against ticket scalping and unauthorized, overpriced guided services. The museum also reserves the right to pursue legal action against any websites or platforms that infringe upon its legitimate rights and interests.
23. Starting from the date a complaint is received, any merchant found guilty of violating regulations will be placed on the museum’s "Reservation Violation List" and prohibited from booking tickets for 6 months. Individuals who provide unauthorized guided services within the museum will be added to the museum’s "Unwelcome Visitors List" and prohibited from making reservations for six months. The museum will notify the individual’s affiliated organization accordingly. We invite all visitors to join us in our supervision efforts and actively report any scalping or unauthorized/overpriced tour guide services.The museum supports visitors in filing complaints against relevant scalping websites or third-party platforms in cases of financial loss or disputes, and reserves the right to pursue legal action against any websites or platforms that infringe upon its legitimate rights and interests.
24. The Hubei Provincial Museum is a free-admission museum. No entrance fees or reservation fees are charged. Visitors are advised to remain vigilant against fraudulent ticketing or reservation practices.
Group Reservation
Online Reservation Service System
1. Real-name reservation is required for visiting our museum.
2. Reservations can only be made through the official website of Hubei Provincial Museum. Please ensure you use the correct platform to avoid any inconvenience to their visit.
3. The museum accepts group reservations from four types of organized visitors: government and public institution delegations, school groups, corporate teams, and travel agency tours.Account registration is required prior to making a group reservation. Authorized booking representatives must log in to the Museum's official website via a computer, click on the "Group Reservation" section, and register an account before submitting a booking request.When booking group tickets, the applicant is required to provide the identity information of all visitors in the group. Please note that only one account can be registered per organization.Newly registered users can log in to their accounts and check the review status under "Group Basic Information" in “Order History”.Once registration is approved, group reservations must be made at least 1 day in advance, with a maximum booking window of 5 days. Groups booking one day in advance must submit their orders before 16:00 on the reservation date. 4. Due to the requirement for uploading supporting documents, group reservations are currently unavailable on our WeChat Official Account and the Meituan App.
5. Please complete the Travel Agency Dispatch Form with information including, but not limited to, the agency name, tour guide’s ID number and contact number, vehicle license plate number, and the number of visitors. The form must bear the official seal of the travel agency.
6. On the day of the visit, each group member must carry the identification document used in the reservation and enter the museum within the reserved time slot.
7. No refunds or changes are permitted after a successful reservation. This includes adjustments to the group size, visitor information, and entry time. Please plan your visit accordingly.
8. Travel agencies requesting changes to their group account information must submit the relevant application documents at least three working days in advance to: shejiaobu@hbww.org/aifangguanlibu@hbww.org.Required application documents include a copy of the business license and an Application for Change Form, both bearing the official seal. The Application for Change should specify at least the following information: the requested changes, group name, unified social credit code, contact person’s name, and contact telephone number.
9. For schools that have already registered a group account, subordinate colleges or departments must use the school's registered account to make reservations.
10. If a school with an existing group account wishes to register additional accounts for its subordinate colleges, a Letter of Introduction from the Communist Youth League (CYL) Committee must be uploaded during registration. The letter must state the specific requirements and bear the official seals of both the CYL Committee and the college. Additionally, please enter the college contact's phone number in the "Unified Social Credit Code" field.
11. If the original tour guide listed in a confirmed reservation is unable to lead the group into the museum, the travel agency must assign a replacement guide. The replacement guide must bring the original paper dispatch form (including the visitor list), with a note explaining why the original guide cannot attend, and provide the original guide's ID number along with the replacement guide's Tour Guide ID. During ticket check, staff will manually enter the original guide’s ID number into the handheld verification device to grant entry.
12. A no-show by a tour guide will not be counted as a violation if the travel agency provides a written explanation on the dispatch form. However, if a tour guide makes a reservation in the name of an individual visitor and fails to appear, it will be treated as a visitor no-show. Accumulating three such violations will result in a six-month ban from entry.
The Museum reserves the right to interpret all provisions of these measures.
Paid Special Exhibitions/Performances/VR Experiences
For paid special exhibitions, visitors who are unable to enter as scheduled may apply for a ticket refund no later than 08:00 on the day of the visit. Refund requests submitted after this time will not be processed. Tickets purchased after 08:00 on the visit date are non-refundable. Visitors are advised to plan their visit accordingly.Visitors who have purchased tickets for paid special exhibitions through official channels do not need to make an additional reservation for the permanent exhibitions. Please bring your original valid ID and enter the Museum on the date specified on your ticket.
Dear Visitors, The performance schedule for the "Chime Bells Music and Dance" varies by season: Peak Season (March – October):Tuesday to Friday: 3 daily performances at 11:30, 14:00, and 15:00. Weekends & Holidays: 4 daily performances at 10:30, 11:30, 14:00, and 15:00. Low Season (November – February): Tuesday to Friday: 2 daily performances at 11:30 and 15:00. The immersive holographic production Encountering King Zhuang of Chu is staged five times daily during business hours (10:30 – 16:00). In case of special circumstances preventing the show from being held on time, or if additional sessions are added during national public holidays, notifications will be issued separately.
Visitors attending the holographic stage production Encountering the Sword of Goujian should enter the museum within their purchased ticket time slot and proceed to the West Hall Ticket Office to exchange for the specific showtime and seat assignment for that day. Alternatively, you may first reserve entry for the "Permanent Collection" and then purchase performance tickets on-site. For visitors purchasing the limited VR experience Journey through the Bronze Age: The Sword of Goujian & Chime Bells, please plan your visit time wisely after entering the museum. The latest admission time is 16:00. We recommend planning your itinerary accordingly.

Ancient Music Performance
Performance Overview
Since its establishment, the Chime-bells Orchestra of Hubei Provincial Museum has been invited to perform in Japan, Singapore, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, as well as in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The Orchestra also maintains a long-term collaboration with Japan's NHK for the production of music programs.It has also performed at the celebrations for the 35th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the 1997 Hong Kong Handover.In addition, the orchestra has also collaborated with world-renowned orchestras such as the Asian Youth Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the New York Symphony Orchestra, and the National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan, receiving high acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
Among the 125 musical instruments unearthed from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng, the most remarkable are the Chime-bells from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng.As the consummate masterpiece of musical culture and the pinnacle of bronze casting craftsmanship in Pre-Qin China, it is hailed by historians of science and technology both at home and abroad as an "Encyclopedia reflecting the level of scientific and technological development in Pre-Qin China."The complete set consists of 65 bronze chime bells, making it the best-preserved and largest collection of chime bells discovered to date.The complete set spans a range of five and a half octaves and is capable of transposition across different keys.A defining feature of this set is that each bell produces two distinct tones: one when struck in the center and another when struck on the side. The larger bells on the lower tier produce deep, sonorous sounds; the replicated stone chimes (Qing) deliver beautiful, clear tones; and the Jian Gu (a type of drum) creates a magnificent and imposing atmosphere.

Kind Reminders
Visitors who have purchased tickets are kindly requested to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance and present their ID or ticket QR code for verification. Visitors arriving more than 15 minutes after the performance has started will not be admitted. During the performance, visitors are requested to wear face masks throughout the entire show.

Luggage Storage
Free luggage storage service is available. Please use the lockers at the North Hall Entrance and the South Hall Basement (B1) for small items. Large luggage can be stored at the South and North Gate Entrances.
Free Wheelchair and Stroller Rental
Please visit the Information Desk in the North Hall Lobby with a valid ID to borrow a wheelchair or stroller. A deposit of of RMB 200 is required and will be fully refunded upon the return of the equipment.
Guided Tours and Interpretation Services
Visitors must go to the Guided Tour Desk in the North Hall, queue on site, and join a group-guided tour. Online reservations for guided tours have been suspended.
Chinese-language guided tours are available for groups of 10–15 visitors per session. Three distinct routes are available for guests to choose from:
(1)Highlights of the Top Ten Treasures: RMB 50 per person; approximately 90 minutes;
(2)A Panorama of Chu North Hall Premium Route: RMB 30 per person; approximately 60 minutes;
(3)South Hall Thematic Exhibition Premium Route: RMB 30 per person; approximately 60 minutes.
English-language guided tours are offered at the existing rate of RMB 200 per group, with a duration of approximately 60 minutes.
Morning Session Guided Tours: Registration at 9:00 and 10:30. Afternoon Session Guided Tours: Registration at 13:30 and 15:00. Group Size: Tours depart when the group reaches 10-20 people.

The museum offers the following guided services: 3D Map Navigation: Scan the on-site QR code to access the Hubei Provincial Museum Map Navigation WeChat mini-program, which provides real-time location sharing and precise navigation to exhibition halls, key artifacts, information desks, restrooms, water dispensers, nursing rooms, auditoriums, parking lots, cultural and creative gift shops, dining areas, performance halls, and other facilities. Audio Guide Rentals: Standard Audio Guide: RMB 20 /unit (≤3 hours) or RMB 40/unit (unlimited same-day use); deposit: RMB 200/unit. Meihua Botong Mobile Audio Guide: RMB 20 (valid for 7 days); no deposit required. Sentai Guide: RMB 30/unit (≤4 hours); no deposit required. Cloud Museum Guide: RMB 50/unit (unlimited same-day use); deposit: RMB 500/unit. Note: Before purchasing any guide service via the museum’s mini-program, please reserve your museum admission ticket. Volunteer Docent Service (Free):Two daily sessions: 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Cultural and creative products are available for purchase on site. We accept various payment methods, including cash, Alipay, and WeChat Pay. Please note that online sales are temporarily unavailable, but an e-store is currently under active development.
Visitors holding a Chucai Card may present the electronic card upon entry and use the priority access channel. Chucai Card holders are entitled to complimentary guided tour services, free access to performances and VIP lounge, as well as free parking.
In accordance with relevant regulations, the Museum charges fees for specific services, including temporary exhibitions featuring cultural relics loaned from external institutions (prices subject to official announcements), the Chime Bells Performance, professional guided tours of the collections, audio guide rentals, and parking for both small and large vehicles.
Large luggage and oversized items carried by visitors can be stored free of charge at the Baggage Storage located at the North Gate exit; small personal items may be stored free of charge at the storage facility in the South Hall, B1 (Basement 1)
Visitor Code of Conduct
Entry is prohibited for visitors who are inappropriately dressed, intoxicated, or suffering from mental illness, as well as those carrying flammable, explosive, or dangerous materials, or pets.
Preschoolers and elementary school students must be accompanied by guardians; senior citizens and visitors with with limited mobility must also be accompanied.
Please take good care of public facilities, plants, and trees. Any damage shall be compensated at the original cost.
To maintain a clean and hygienic environment, spitting and littering are strictly prohibited inside the Museum.
Please refrain from using flash photography, eating, drinking, smoking, making excessive noise, or engaging in playful activities within the exhibition halls. Activities unrelated to the visit are also prohibited.
With the exception of vehicles on state security duty (Level 1 and 2) and official museum business vehicles, all other vehicles are prohibited from entering the exhibition area. Please park your vehicle in the designated parking lots inside or outside the Museum premises.
The Museum reserves the right to interpret all provisions of these measures.
Measures for the Administration of Public Service Activities in the Exhibition Areas of the Hubei Provincial Museum
These Measures are formulated in accordance with the Regulations on Museums, the Regulations on the Administration of Tour Guides, and other relevant laws and regulations, for the purpose of maintaining public order and protecting the rights and interests of visitors in the exhibition areas, as well as creating a safe, civilized, and orderly visiting environment,
Article 1 Hubei Provincial Museum (hereinafter referred to as the Museum) arranges full-time professional docents, social education specialists, and pre-trained volunteers to provide public services within exhibition areas, including guided tours (covering smart guides and audio guides), educational programs, and study tour activities. Public service programs adhere to the principles of public welfare and differentiation, and are provided either free of charge or on a fee-based basis according to their respective categories.
Article 2 The Museum supports travel agencies in carrying out cultural and tourism activities in accordance with laws and regulations. Tour guides affiliated with travel agencies who conduct public service activities such as guided tours or study tours at the Museum must be officially dispatched by their travel agency and present their tour guide certificate, ID card, and task assignment letter at the Museum’s guided tour service desk. After verification and registration, they shall obtain and wear the Hubei Provincial Museum Public Service Permit before commencing activities in the exhibition areas.
Article 3 The Museum supports schools, training institutions, and other relevant organizations in conducting interpretation, study tours, and related activities on its premises. Such activities require a written application submitted in the name of the organization to the Museum at least 2 days in advance, along with a proposed public service plan. The plan must include details such as the activity content, commentary scripts, and specific executive personnel. Upon approval, the organization must complete registration procedures at the Interpretation & Guidance Desk on the day of the activity and collect and wear the Public Service Certificate of Hubei Provincial Museum before commencing activities in the exhibition areas.
Article 4 The Public Service Certificate of Hubei Provincial Museum is valid for three hours upon collection on the day of the activity. It must be returned promptly upon completion of the activity.
Article 5 The use of loudspeakers or amplification devices for the aforementioned public services within the exhibition areas is prohibited to avoid excessive noise. The use of non-intrusive equipment for interpretation is encouraged.
Article 6 When conducting guided tours or study tour activities in the exhibition areas, a reasonable visiting route shall be planned in advance. To prevent congestion, participants must follow the guidance of Museum staff and avoid prolonged lingering at exhibition hall entrances and exits, in front of display boards, or around display cases.
Article 7 Direct solicitation of visitors within the museum premises to conduct public service activities is prohibited. The distribution of promotional materials inside the Museum is not permitted. Furthermore, on-site commercial promotion under the guise of public service activities is strictly prohibited within the exhibition areas. Additionally, the release of false or misleading marketing information on the internet is not permitted.
Article 8 The Museum reserves the right to supervise public service activities within exhibition areas. Any public service activity conducted without prior authorization, or any deviation from the approved format or content of an authorized activity, may be halted by the Museum. Any violation of Article 7 herein shall result in the offender being placed on the List of Unwelcome Persons. Offenders will be barred from making reservation visits for a period of six months, and the violation will be reported to their affiliated institution.
Article 9 Hubei Provincial Museum reserves the right of final interpretation of these Measures.
